This is why I love the treasure-hunting part of my job so much: sometimes you find really, really cool things. Yesterday’s lucky find was a ca. 1900 silver-gilt brooch, inlaid with kingfisher feathers. It’s lovely and delicate and in shockingly good condition, especially considering how fragile feathers are and how long a journey it’s had.
